Sm Bus Controller Driver Download For Sony Vaio Install Update
Discussions cover Windows Server, Windows installation, adding and removing programs, driver problems, crashes, upgrading, and other OS-related questions. Thank you in advance for your help and attention to this matter. I have an "iGM. Here is a screenshot from the Update Utility, which basically says that both of my Intel drivers are perfectly fine.
In any case, I went ahead and re-installed the driver for the chipset. So, does anyone have a suggestion of what I might do to resolve this issue?
If additional information is needed, I will supply it. Thank you so much. If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
I understand how to search the web for computer help, actually. But the official site for my computer click here for the link says nothing about the SM Bus Controller, so your sarcastic response to my question is totally unhelpful and unwarranted. If you post such you may scare away folk that do help. Did you try the vista driver anyway?
And when it comes to XP, some machines will never run it without small issues like this. This can cheese off some folk that are not well seasoned. If I post such I may scare away folk that do help? So, are you saying that I should have initially posted that I did indeed check Google for a solution to my problem? I just assume that everyone knows that i at least did that before seeking outside help. As I was able to see many drivers I thought to lead with that.
I see there are some further findings below but you do bring up a good point. Has XP's days come to a close as folk experience this more and more? That is, while I lived through all this and authored a lot of software over the years I'm seeing more folk moving away from the keyboard.
That is, if they can't click "fix it" they are off to the repair counter. And repair counters are sadly another name for "sales". For example your old XP hand knows that they must not just look at the device manager about this and install the SM Bus driver. They know this driver has dependencies so it's likely that we must install some chipset driver first and then if the SM Bus is in a second driver to reboot and continue with the next.
There are folk that are OCD that must fix every device manager entry. I have made good money off such folk so I have nothing bad to write about them and thank them for visiting the shop. The link below show you may need to install the Sony Chipset driver version 8. Have you tried installing the Sony indicated version provided at the first link Bob provided above? Thank you for your help, though. Sorry, I missed that in your original post.. I see it now.. Since the original OS was Vista, we frequently have issues such as the one you're seeing because all drivers aren't supported..
You usually have to tinker with such things to get everything installed Or, you get most things running and leave the rest alone. ON the other hand, have you tried the drivers from the Sony Asia site below? It includes an XP chipset driver in the downloadable zip package.
Grif, I will definitely try this possible solution the Asian site and see what happens. Thank you so much for your research and attention on my behalf to this matter. I will post my results here.
I have been to the official drivers download page for my particular netbook and have re-installed all the drivers therein with no change in the "SM Bus Controller" problem. You are posting a reply to: Track this discussion and email me when there are updates.

Also HP in http: If nothing else is wrong with your PC, I'd forget about this issue. Why do you need that driver? What goes wrong without it?
